Day Tour Guide helps people get the most out of day tours and activities in Australia. We publish guides to planning, including choosing a tour, bookings, cancellations and refunds, travel insurance and touring with children; to the reef and wildlife, including reef day trips, snorkelling safety, marine stingers and crocodiles, and whale watching; and to the outdoors, including visiting Uluru, coping with sun and heat, wine and food tours and flying a drone on holiday. Our tour value comparer helps you compare tours by cost per activity hour.
Why we exist
Most tour information online is written to sell a particular tour. The rules and safety advice that matter, from consumer rights to marine park etiquette, are spread across government websites. We want travellers to have a clear, neutral place to start.
How we work
We write every guide in our own words. For rules and safety we rely on official sources, such as the ACCC, Moneysmart, Parks Australia, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, the Queensland Government, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, Cancer Council, healthdirect, the NHMRC and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, and we list our sources on each page. We never invent statistics, prices, quotes or testimonials, and we don't rank or review tour operators.
Independence
Day Tour Guide (funtours.com.au) is an independent information site. Despite the domain name, we don't run or sell tours. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any tour operator, booking platform, brand, business or agency named on this site, any previous operator of this domain, or any business with a similar name. Place and business names appear in image captions only where they're visible in photos.
General information only
Our guides are general information, not legal, financial or medical advice. Rules differ between states and parks, and every operator has its own terms. Always read the operator's terms and conditions, follow park and marine park rules, listen to your guide and crew, and check official safety advice before you go.
