Long Island Resort Whitsundays Review

Long Island Resort is a care free, relaxed resort setting with good accommodation just meters from the calm waters of Happy Bay. Small yet exciting, most guests say their time at Long Island will be forever remembered as a relaxing place with fabulous amenities and friendly staff.

Long Island Resort is one of our preferred Whitsunday holiday destinations, very affordable and very picturesque.

Long Island Resort Whitsundays

Image showing Long Island Resort accommodation and beach.Long Island is roughly 9 kms in length and holds some amazing rainforest areas, is home to a large variety of wild life, but is best known for the calm blue waters of Happy Bay, where the Long island Resort is situated.

Most of Long Island is now a National Park, yet the resort facilities, which were first established in 1934, are considered one of Whitsundays finest resorts, with a laid back style of beach front accommodation right on the golden sands of Happy Bay.

You won't find the Long Island Resort accommodation exotic or luxurious as some of the upper class Whitsunday island resorts. What you will get is an affordable holiday experience with rooms to match the price. For around $280 per night for 2 people, you get a beachfront studio room, with separate ensuite, all meals, free use of beachfront activites and total freedom.

Long Island Resort has 2 pools, with the main pool having a swim up bar, spa, restaurant, gift shop and other amenities that make a holiday pleasurable. Nightly entertainment is presented in the forecourt and all staff go out of their way to make you feel special, because they know you are. The ladies absolutely love having cocktails at the swim up pool bar.

Jet skis are also available for hire, plus fishing trips can be arrange along with a variety of other water sports. Meals are a delight at Palms Restaurant in the heart of Long Island Resort, buffet meals are simply delicious.

Happy Bay is fringed with coconut palms so if it's a relaxing care free holiday you are after, Long Island Resort is made for you. Imagine lying in a comfortable hammock, gently swaying in the warm tropical breeze just meters from the blue ocean. This is the style of holiday you can expect on Long Island.

Long Island resort transfers are serviced by Cruise Whitsundays from Hamilton Island Airport or Abel Point Marina in Airlie Beach. Cruise Whitsundays will arrange airport connections to Whitsundays Airport at Proserpine or you can book your connections online direct through Long Island Resort website.

Long Island Resort Review Summary:
Long island is not a five star resort, boasting at best comfortable, affordable accommodation. Rooms are smallish, clean and adequate, you will mostly use the rooms at night and spend the best part of your day on the beach or around the pools. It would rate around a three star hotel experience but has a beautiful beach area.

Image of Happy Bay, Long Island. Day trippers are welcome to use all facilities that are available to island stay guests. Meals are delicious. Staff friendly. Facilities excellent.

Long Island is one of the more visually beautiful resorts, especially at high tide when the accommodation is just a few paces from the waters edge.

We recommend Long Island Resort for those wanting a full Whitsundays island experience at a budget price. Personally we will return often to Long Island Resort in the future as it is totally relaxing, visually breathtaking and a stress free resort experience, with fewer people and good activities. It's like a no frills resort where the price matches the facilities. If you are after more luxurious accommodation, then Long Island is not what you seek.

We made our Long Island Resort review from a totally unbiased perspective. We are in no way connected with Club Crocodile, who manage Long Island Resort or Cruise Whitsundays who service Long Island by ferry. We live locally in Airlie Beach and spend time at all resorts. Our opinions are our own and are an honest assessment as to what we found while visiting the venue.
