Coral Sea Resort, Airlie Beach.
Coral Sea Resort is situated on Paradise Point with fantastic views
over the Coral Sea. With my wife and daughter, we booked a 3 night stay
and received a bonus night free, making our stay
4 memorable nights all up.
As soon as you drive your vehicle into the undercover car park, you
are presented with the most fabulous views across the Coral Sea, and
you realized that something special awaits inside the hotel. If these
are the views from the car park, what will it be like from the rooms?
Booking in was totally hassle free, with everything waiting for us.
Perhaps the total check in procedure took 5 minutes and the young man
at the desk was the most pleasant and helpful person we have dealt with
in any hotel across Australia.
We booked a Sea View Room which overlooks the resort swimming pool.
The rooms are by no means luxury, but they are certainly adequate, roomy
and clean. Our room contained 2 queen size beds, which were very comfortable,
lots of closet space, plus all the usual hotel fixtures and fittings.
The room was air-conditioned, thankfully, as the tropical heat was quite
stifling for January. The view from the room and private balcony was
stunning.
The
bathroom was good sized and meticulously clean. Something that was amazing
is that you can open a small louvre door in the bathroom while having
a shower and enjoy the view. The outside windows in the room and bathroom
have been mirrored so you have complete privacy while still being able
to see out.
Dining in the restaurant is a treat, with delicious meals and attentive
staff. Airlie Beach is a very casual place and the staff at the Coral
Sea Resort go about their work in a relaxed yet efficient manner, which
makes it great for all guests.
No need to get dressed for dinner, shirt
and shorts are as fitting as is more formal attire, but when you are
dining next to the pool with the most fabulous views, anyone who can't
relax needs to see their doctor quick. Or perhaps a few stiff drinks
will help them unwind.
Breakfast is satisfying, lunch can be anything
from burger and chips to something more substantial and dinner is pure
indulgence. Meal prices are very reasonable for al-a-carte dining.
The Coral Sea Resort has an on site tour booking and gift shop. We
booked ahead for the 2
Island Cruise with Fantasea Cruises but the weather turned sour
and we had no trouble canceling on the day and rebooking for later in
the week. We were picked up at the door by the shuttle bus and dropped
off again after the cruise. Fantastic organization by all and out thanks
to shop staff for rearranging everything so efficiently.
The location of the Coral Sea Resort is just about perfect. Easy to
drive to and right on the Bicentennial
Boardwalk, making the main street and swimming lagoon at Airlie
Beach just a short walk and Abel Point Marina no more that 5 minutes
from the hotel door.
One of the first impressions visitors to Airlie Beach have are the
outstanding sea views as you drive along Shute
Harbour Road. At the Coral Sea Resort, those views are with you
every minute and add an island flavor to your whole stay.
You can book standard rooms, rooms with ocean views or luxury Coral
Sea Suites, which are magnificently furnished and have outdoor spa,
double hammock and panoramic views. There is an on-site bar and restaurant,
gymnasium, gift shop, massage service, large pool and a great garden
with chairs and umbrellas so you can sip a cool drink and just totally
unwind, enjoying the great views and fresh sea air.
We had a seriously good time at the Coral Sea Resort, despite the rain,
and we are planning to stay there again and again. Airlie Beach is a
fabulous getaway destination and if you are after accommodation that
is close to everything, doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but is upmarket
from the backpacker trade, don't hesitate putting Coral Sea Resort on
your list.
