Coral Point Lodge Shute Harbour Review
For
a fraction of the cost of Airlie Beach accommodation, Coral Point Lodge
not only offers a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere, it is close to the
Shute Harbour Marina and all those cruises and water sports people can
enjoy in the fabulous Whitsundays. If you are going to take a cruise
or any sort of day trip from Shute Harbour, the Coral Point Motel is
located very close to all that type of action.
Recently we took a group of 5 adults for a 2
Island Cruise with Fantasea Cruises and looked for accommodation
close to the Shute Harbour Marina. We searched the net for the closest
accommodation to the marina and the Coral Point Motel came up the best
positioned, at the best price, for our requirements. A simple phone
call was all the was needed to book an apartment to house the gang and
we were all set for our day in paradise.
The Coral Point website stated that each room had ocean views. "Wow"
is what one of our guests from Finland described the view at first glance.
The balcony was facing the Shute Harbour Jetty and there were many minutes
spent relaxing and taking in the magical view.
These
are not luxury units but are roomy, comfortable and clean. The 3 bedroom
apartment was fully self contained with separate bathroom and toilet
facilities. 2 bedrooms faced the marina with each having a small balcony
and the main open space lounge, kitchen, dining area had a nice balcony
with outdoor seating. Furnishings are stylish and comfortable and the
units are air conditioned, which is essential in the tropics between
October and April.
There is a BBQ area for easy meals and a pool with the most gorgeous
view you could ask for. What a place to relax and get ready for a day
in the Whitsundays or to unwind after a hard day in paradise. Undercover
parking was supplied below the apartment and check in and check out
was a breeze.
The Coral Point Lodge does have a small cafe and restaurant, but at
the time of our visit was being refurbished so cannot make a review
comment about the meals. As our room was self contained we picked up
some supplies for the supermarket in Airlie Beach and cooked our own.
We
were quite surprised at the quality of the accommodation, especially
at the price we paid for 5 adults. The views are worth the price that
you pay, so you could say the accommodation is a bonus. We enjoyed our
swim in the crystal clean pool, and wowed at the views while enjoying
the dip.
This review of Coral Point Lodge is completely unbiased. We have no
connection whatsoever with the motel management. We rate the accommodation
as 3 stars and the views at 5 stars.
For what you pay this is quite
affordable and is away from the Airlie beach hustle, bustle and noise.
Again we must state it is not luxury accommodation, just good clean
and comfortable 3 star accommodation close to Shute Harbour Marina and
about a 10 to 15 minute drive to Airlie Beach.
We would suggest that you need a car or your own transport if staying
at the Coral Point Motel, as it is a fair walk around the ridge from
the boat jetty, but just a few minutes by car. We would certainly stay
at the Coral Point Lodge next time we need accommodation close to Shute
Harbour. For the price it is great value.
