Airlie Beach Airport Shuttle Service

From Airlie Beach you have several airport transfers that you can use to fly into or out of the Whitsundays. Hamilton Island Airport, Whitsunday Coast Airport Proserpine or Mackay Airport, which is about 160 kms south.

For Hamilton Island Airport, both Cruise Whitsundays and Fantasea Cruises operated ferry services as an airport transfer. Pick up at Airlie Beach accommodation can be arranged when booking ferry tickets. Both ferry services cost around $50 one way to or from Hamilton Island which includes accommodation pick up. They do not pick up at private residences. Ask your chosen accommodation about their free shuttle bus service, if available.

For Whitsunday Coast Airport Proserpine, Whitsunday Shuttle Service operate airport transfers to and from Airlie Beach at a cost of $15 pp one way. Many backpacker hostels operate their own free shuttle bus service to Proserpine Airport with each booking.

For Mackay Airport, Greyhound and Premier Bus operate standard shuttle bus services coming into or departing Airlie Beach. Cost to or from Mackay Airport is around $25.

Airlie Beach to Mackay Shuttle Service

At this stage the only Shuttle Bus options we can find is the Bus Service by either Greyhound or Premier, which costs around $25 one way.

Buses from Airlie Beach now stop right at the Mackay Airport, which is very convienient for backpackers, as some flights are a lot more affordable from Mackay than those available from either Proserpine Airport or Hamilton Island.

For example, Tiger Airways operate direct flights from Mackay to Melbourne which are sometimes just $79.00. Depending when you wish to travel, this could save you many hundreds of dollars.

We will endeavor to keep you informed as to the best methods of transport to and from Airlie Beach and the Mackay Airport. Taxis fares are too expensive and perhaps the best option is one way car hire, especially if there are 2 or more travellers in your group.

Most major car hire firms, such as Europcar, Avis, Budget and Hertz, operate from both Airlie Beach and Mackay Airport. There are hire car firms situated on the main street at Airlie Beach.
