Airlie Beach Lagoon

Ocean viws from Airlie Lagoon. The Airlie Beach Lagoon is a man made swimming area where the whole family can safely enjoy a days swimming without the threat of marine stingers or other aquatic dangers. During the summer months, the waters of North Queensland may contain deadly jellyfish, which makes beaches dangerous to swimmers, the local council decided that while Airlie Beach is such a high tourism area in the Whitsundays, it would be a benefit to both residents and tourists alike to construct a swimming enclosure, to add beauty and functionality.

The Airlie Lagoon really makes the town a true seaside resort. With world class accommodation to suit all budgets and preferences, fantastic restaurants, marinas and everything that is needed for a relaxed and fun holiday in the tropics, the addition of such a beautiful area certainly gives another tick to Airlie Beach being regarded as a premier tourist destination of Australia.

The great part of the Airlie Beach Lagoon design is that there is an area that is suitable for everyone, from a toddler pool, to a shallow area for kids from 3 year to ten or deeper areas for adults. The lagoon is also large enough to accommodate many people of all swimming abilities and it is big enough for the more energetic to do laps for a great workout.

Life guards on duty at Airlie Beach Lagoon There is no fence around the swimming lagoon, so technically it is always open for those early morning workouts or a moonlight swim after dark. Lifeguards are on duty from 6.00am to 9.00pm during weekdays and 8.00am to 9.00pm weekends. The area is security patrolled at night so your safety is ensured at all times.

The Airlie Lagoon's facilities include many toilets and change rooms, mothers room for babies needs, free electric BBQ's, shaded tables and the greatest views to be found anywhere. Entry is totally free and there is parking areas at either end of the lagoon, which does attract a parking fee.

Just behind the main shopping area, there are food and refreshments within a short stroll, but the main attraction is the ability to offer a safe swimming environment to all, with varying depths of water to suit everyone's swimming ability. Come and enjoy the Airlie Beach Lagoon, it's a fun place to spend a few hours or a few days in a virtual paradise setting.
