Solar Eclipse Port Douglas

by John on November 14, 2012

It’s just on 6 hours since we witnessed one of the most enjoyable nature shows on earth. Port Douglas, which is a tropical paradise, was one of the best locations in Australia to experience a total solar eclipse, where the moon passed between the sun and earth. This time yesterday we were worried that cloud and rain would spoil the spectacular event. When the moment came, Mother Nature decided to smile upon us as if following the script, right on cue, parting the clouds for what was indeed a once in a lifetime experience.

For now a few images and an unedited video will replace the usual banter. More posts on the spectacular eclipse, Port Douglas and surrounding areas will follow in the days to come. For now, please enjoy what can only be described as totally awesome, our pictorial account of todays Solar Eclipse on the famous 4 Mile Beach, Port Douglas.

Spectacular sunrise, giving everyone hope that those clouds would not cover the eclipse that would begin as both the sun and moon would shortly rise together.

Some people chose a sunrise cruise so they could see the eclipse from perhaps a better position.

Mother Nature parted the clouds just as the moon covered the sun. What an awesome sight.
