Domestic Air Travel Price War

by John on December 15, 2009

There’s some serious savings to be had right now, with the major Australian airlines all jostling for your travel dollars. Now is the right time to book your travel needs, not just for the holiday season, for traveling to many Australian cities and regional airports way into 2010.

Right now as I type, you can get a flight from Sydney to Perth with Virgin Blue for $209. Melbourne to Hamilton Island is a low $179 and Sydney to Brisbane just $79. Bargains!

Jetstar tops Virgin for cheap flights from Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport to Hamilton Island at just $139 (carry on luggage only), with Sydney to Brisbane being equal with Virgin at $79. Jetstar again beats Virgin Prices for their Sydney to Perth service coming in at $189, a saving of $20.

All the above fares were quoted for travel on the 23rd March 2010, so it’s a fair bet that prices could change if you reqire flights closer to today’s date. What it does show though is that you must shop around for the best prices, and it is usual that the greater forward planning you can make, the greater your saving on domestic flights.

Perhaps it’s the Christmas cheer, or the airlines fight to attract your business now and into the future. Whatever the reason for this seemingly “airline price war”, you are the eventual winner, with some great Australian destinations available at record low airfares.

Explore Australian in 2010 with fantastic savings on domestic flights. Merry Christmas and thank you Virgin Blue and Jetstar.
