Just an hours drive north of Cairns lies a tropical paradise just waiting
to be explored. Port Douglas was first settled in 1877, was all but wiped
off the map by a cyclone in 1911 (just 2 houses remained standing) and
eventually became an important tourist area of North Queensland in the
1980's.
