Port Douglas, Tropical Queensland

Agincourt Reef Port Douglas

Port Douglas is one of my favorite places in Australia. Everything is so relaxed and the village has a charm all of it's own.

Nestled between the beach and the marina complex, visitors can walk anywhere without the hassle of looking for a parking space or being worried about that extra drink at dinner landing you in trouble.

It's a short drive into the Daintree area. Just 15 minutes to Mossman Gorge and those snorkel and dive cruises to the reefs are awesome. But you don't have to leave Port Douglas itself to have a great holiday.

Just an hours drive north of Cairns, Port Douglas was first settled in 1877, was all but wiped off the map by a cyclone in 1911 (just 2 houses remained standing) and eventually became an important tourist area of North Queensland in the 1980's.

Port Douglas has a style that beckons both the adventure lover and the romantic that is in all of us. Sandy beaches, clear skies and balmy tropical nights all add together a distinct change of pace from the normal hum drum of living.

At Port Douglas things are more relaxed and so they should be, because you are in paradise.

Come and join the lucky people that have made Port Douglas their home and have a taste of what the tropics are all about. Laze by the pool, take a swim in the clear Coral Sea, go snorkeling, scuba dive, or enjoy the cool breeze on your face as you cruise to the Great Barrier Reef.

Crocodile Port DouglasThen there is the magnificent Daintree Rainforest with a rich array of flora and fauna, crocodile cruises and journeys to far flung outposts of Cape Tribulation and historic Cooktown.

There is so much to see and do in Port Douglas that you will need to come back often.
