Spirit of the West - The Avon Experience Dining Train
Latest News 2008:
Unfortunately the owners of the Spirit of the
West Railway have decided that, although the train dining experience
was popular and made a modest profit, the profit generated was not enough
to meet the companies business model, therefore the Spirit of the West
has been discontinued.
If
you enjoy dining in luxury then the Spirit of the West dining experience
is something you will love. Champagne, 5 course dinner, premium wines
and a nostalgic journey in historic
train carriages will have guests wanting to come again for another
experience that is like taking a trip into yesteryear.
With a taste tempting menu of delights to suit the individual tastes
of the true connoisseur, you will dine in the specially refurbished
carriages that give the feel of an opulent era where train travel and
luxury were a true adventure.
Lunch and dinner journeys are conducted each Saturday and Sunday, departing
from the East Perth Rail Terminal. Departure times are 12:30pm and 7:30pm
and the Spirit of the West returns approx 3.5 hours after departure.
The East Perth terminal is a 5 to 10 minute drive from Perth's CBD.
Both the Indian Pacific and the Spirit of the West leave from this terminal
and it is only a couple of stops from the Perth Central train station.
The terminal is serviced by Perth's suburban trains called " Fasttrack
" and always has plenty of buses and taxis waiting for arriving passengers.
It is a shame the Spirit of the West has been closed, yet this seems
to be the way large companies operate in todays business world. Look
