Great Ocean Road High Adventure Tour

This is probably one of the most spectacular tours that can be taken from Melbourne along what is called the "Ship Wreck Coast" to the south west of Melbourne. With breathtaking views and stops at famous places such as Bells Beach and Apollo Bay, this is a tour for those that love sightseeing.

From Melbourne you travel out over the West Gate Bridge and along the Princes Highway to Geelong. From there you make your way through the towns of Angelsea, Torquay. Morning tea is at Bells Beach, famous for the Rip Curl Pro Surfing competition. There are a host of places where you will have the opportunity to take photos along the famous Great Ocean Road.

Image of Razorback Ridge near Loch Ard Gorge. Take lunch at the beautiful town of Apollo Bay then it's off for some of the more famous sights that are along the great Ocean Road. Enjoy the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, Razorback and learn of the misery and loss of life along the coast due to shipwrecks during wild weather.

There is an optional helicopter flight at the 12 Apostles stop which is well worth taking for those that can afford the extra cost. Fabulous views from the air of these great natural monuments.

Take afternoon tea at Port Campbell and then on to the remains of London Bridge.

Image London Bridge Today. You can see London Bridge image at the top of page before it fell down. 2 people were stranded on the the tip and had to be airlifted to safety. Would have been amazing to see it fall down but a bit scary to be trapped on the remaining column.

This stop rounds off a fantastic day which I would consider the best tour I have ever taken. Make sure you put some sunscreen on as you can get windburn along the coast even during winter.

What spectacular and dramatic scenery along this road. Nature at it's most powerful. Wasn't a particularly nice day when we took the tour yet the sea was rough and gave us an insight to what it would be like along the coast during a storm. I wouldn't like to be in a boat in those seas. I would love to do this tour again one day.

Amazing! I highly recommend taking a helicopter rider over the Twelve Apostles. It will be an experience you'll never forget. The ocean views are one of the finest Australia has to offer. Personally I think its also the best the world has to offer. Rugged yet beautiful.

Now for the bad part. If you want hotel pickup make sure you ring the bus operator the day before and confirm that they pickup from your hotel. If I didn't do this we would have missed the tour because I marked hotel pickup when booking the tour online, but when I rang they didn't even know where the hotel was. We had to make our own way into the city to catch the tour.
