Batman's Hill was named after the founder of Melbourne, John Batman who used the area as home base at the beginning of settlement. Today, most of the hill is used by the Railway Yards in Spencer St and some by private enterprise.

As an old Melbournian, I found it strange that they would change the name of something that dates back to the earliest days of settlement, but then governments do strange things. Transport that will take you in all directions is just outside the hotel door and the new coach and train interchange, where you can grab a bus to the airport is in the new train station building. It's more than handy to be able to catch trams, trains, buses and cabs right near a hotel. The rooms in Batman's Hill Hotel are clean and comfortable with the standard room very cheap at just over $100 per night. There are rooms to suit individual needs, one and two bedroom apartments and rooms with spa baths. The hotel was recently renovated and looks a picture inside. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the Batman's Hill hotel is the perfect accommodation choice if going to the football or other sports at the Etihad Stadium. You are also in walking distance to the Melbourne Aquarium, Crown Casino and the Convention Centre. Good value in a great part of the city.

location of Batman's Hill Hotel couldn't be better as it is situated
on the corner of Collins St and Spencer St, opposite the old Spencer
St railway station which they now call Southern Cross Station.
