Double room at Base Backpackers Hotel Located in the heart of the entertainment district of Melbourne, Base Backpackers is an up market hotel type backpackers hostel accommodation, in a fabulous location.

Rooms are small and comfortable, available in single or double beds, bathrooms are share facilities but we pride ourselves on cleanliness and guest service. There is an on-site bar and restaurant plus laundry facilities and parking area.

You are just meters from transport with the famous Melbourne trams running past the hostel. Busy Acland Street, with an array of bars, restaurants and nightclubs is just a block for the Base Backpackers and St Kilda Beach is within walking distance.

Base Backpackers is good clean accommodation in a great location but a little on the dear side when your on a tight budget as I was. That really is the only thing I had against staying there as it was really good otherwise. Rooms were smallish but I did have one for myself. If you want cheaper there are some right in the centre of Melbourne for about $15 less which are dorm type hostels. My opinion, good spot and great if you want more of hotel style digs than cheap backpackers style rooms.

My friend and I stayed at the Base for 3 nights and thought it was fantastic. We took the tram to the city, walked along St Kilda Beach and thought the nightlife was great. The Asian food at the restaurant is fabulous and very yummy. Highly recommend the Base to all.
