Mackay Regional Council New Years Fireworks
Year 2008 - 2009 fireworks display was particularly spectacular, with thanks to Mackay Regional Council and Auto Corner Mackay for sponsoring the fireworks and City Heart street party, which was very impressive this year for visual beauty and enjoyment. With the fireworks being held on the banks of the Pioneer River, the location gives residents the best vantage points to see the fireworks display without the need to queue for long hours. There are ample viewing spots on both the north and south banks of the river to watch the display. Council should also be thanked for thinking of the kids and holding 2 separate displays on the night, one at 9.00pm and then the main fireworks display at midnight, to welcome in the New Year. Mackay is a progressive city, quickly growing into one of the most influential and economic powerhouses of all major regional centres in Queensland. With the forecast that the population of Mackay will double within the next decade, Mackay and surrounding areas will enjoy the benefits of the mild tropical climate and diverse employment opportunities.
With a Regional Council that has vision, understanding and growth as their major priority and local businesses that are prepared to invest in the region, the populace can look forward to many more years of Happy New Years, flocking to the Mackay City Heart and the banks of Pioneer River, to enjoy this most spectacular event. Thank You Mackay Regional Council and 2008 - 2009 major sponsor Auto Corner Mackay for giving the people of Mackay a free fireworks display and street party to greet the New Year. Funtours wish all Mackay residents and visitors a Happy New Year and may 2009 be a safe and prosperous time for all.
