Mackay Island Cruises

Image of Mackay Marina at night.Day Cruises From Mackay Marina

Firstly the bad news. The luxurious MV 2001 Has relocated to the Whitsundays and now cruises from Shute Harbour. It's a shame for Mackay people, yet a bonus for those who live or play in the Whitsundays.

Does anybody take day cruises from Mackay? Not that I can find at this time, but I'll keep looking and update this page as soon as possible.

I have noticed that the vessel 2001 replaced on this cruise has returned to the Whitsundays waters, so perhaps 2001 will return to Mackay. Will watch this closely.

Mackay Day Cruises

Brampton Island ImageOld time Mackay residents can recall wonderful balmy days, when Roylen Cruises took guests on a fabulous day trip from Mackay Harbour to Brampton Island. Weekends were the most popular for the Roylen Brampton Island Cruise, as the day was a fantastic family outing, filled with sun and sea.

Take heart Mackay people, Reefstar Cruises are reliving the good old days, and from early May 2009 will be commencing day trips from the beautiful Mackay Marina to Brampton, Scawfell, Keswick and St Bees islands, plus a Friday evening sunset cruise and monthly Whitehaven Beach cruise.

The Cumberland Islands are among the worlds most pristine islands, largely untouched and just waiting for you to enjoy. With crystal clear water, clean sandy beaches and fringing reefs, the islands off shore from Mackay provide a fabulous location for a day trip to paradise. Tucked away from the busy tourist area of the Whitsundays, The Cumberland Island Group are ideal for snorkeling, bushwalking, swimming or just relaxing on the many secluded beaches that these tropical jewels contain.

Reefstar Cruises are limiting numbers on each cruise to around one hundred guests, so you won't be over crowded by too many tourists on the beach at the one time, and there is ample room aboard the luxurious MV 2001. A 30 meter wave piecer vessel, the MV 2001 is air-conditioned and outfitted to ensure passenger comfort.

Most day cruises include a sumptuous buffet luncheon, morning and afternoon tea, plus there is always free tea and coffee available. The local crew are friendly, experienced and ready to make your day special, so don't hesitate to use their knowledge of the islands many features to make your day something memorable.

Image of MV 2001 berthed at Mackay Marina This is an exciting time for both visitors and residents of Mackay. Day cruises from Mackay Marina will once again be something special for singles, couples or families, and a chance for all to discover the tropical beauty of the Cumberland Islands.

We here at Funtours were fortunate enough to cruise to Whithaven Beach on the first cruise by MV2001 to The Whitsundays. We will certainly support Reefstar Cruises and urge all Mackay residents to get on board, so that once again day trips from Mackay Harbour are something very special.

(Funtours is not connected to either Mackay Marina or Reefstar Cruises, just excited locals hoping that the island cruises are a booming success. All inquiries concerning the booking or cancellation of Mackay island cruises should be directed to the respected operators. We thank Reefstar Cruises friendly staff for their assistance and colourful brochure,
