I travel to Mackay on business regularly and make the Clarion at the Marina my accommodation choice all the time. It is convenient to the city heart, yet far enough away for quiet nights. The marina area is absolutely beautiful with a good choice of restaurants and bars for a little night entertainment. Have no hesitation in recommending the Clarion to all.

I would like to make a comment about the Clarion Hotel on Mackay Marina if I can. I haven't stayed there in the hotel part but we attended a small wedding which was held in the restaurant. The food and service was first class and the setting, right on the ocean front, is stunning. Mackay people are proud of our marina and it's great to go to the Clarion Hotel and find a restaurant that would be regarded as first class anywhere in Australia. Hope you can use my comments as it was a great evening thanks to the Clarion staff.

Couldn't fault the rooms and it is probably what you should expect from a relatively new hotel. It is luxury and does have great views but a little out of town. One good thing it is easy to drive to from the Airport and the traffic in Mackay is like a country town. Nice restaurant and reasonably priced. It is a very busy hotel which actually amazed me. I think it was totally booked out while we were there and one of the staff said that it is usually always fully booked. Anyway, we would certainly stay there again if ever going to Mackay. Mackay is really lovely and we went swimming in the middle of winter. Does Mackay have a real winter?
