Airport Transfers Mackay to Whitsundays

Mackay Airport Transfer Bus
Greyhound is now servicing the Mackay Airport twice daily. The first service at 7.00 am and again at 6.15pm, for transfers between the Mackay Airport and north to Airlie Beach and Bowen. Other Greyhound services stop at Mackay during the day but do not directly service the airport, making the stop at Caltex City Cabs, Victoria St. Greyhound has a service desk at the northern end of the airport terminal, just behind the Virgin Blue baggage collection carousal, and the waiting area for the buses is just outside the northern terminal doors. Premier has one bus going north, departing Mackay at 7.20 am arriving at Airlie Beach at 9.30 am. Premier does not go to the Mackay Airport, instead having a stop at CALTEX CITY CABS MACKAY. Taxis are the only option if you need transport between the airport and your Mackay accommodation or the Caltex City Cabs bus stop. There are cabs waiting at the arrivals terminal door when most air services touch down. Cab fare between Mackay Airport and Mackay City is around $10 to $15 AUD. Taxis are an expensive option to take to Airlie Beach, as it is about 150 kilometers between Mackay and Airlie Beach. Perhaps the best option for traveling to the Whitsundays is car hire, especially where there are 2 or more travelling. There are many car hire companies that operate out of the Mackay Airport, such as Hertz, Europcar, Budget and Avis. By car, the trip between Mackay and Airlie Beach takes about 2 hours. Hiring cars is a quick and painless procedure and you won't have the waiting time between your flight arrival and the bus service. All car hire companies have service desks at the Mackay Airport and depots in Airlie Beach.
