With so much to offer in both winter and summer, Jindabyne is a fabulous spot for a holiday to the snow or as a base to catch that elusive trout from Spring through Autumn. Jindabyne has a host of affordable accommodation options, great shopping centres and fabulous facilities to meet individual needs.

Lake Jindabyne early in the morning. Jindabyne, Snowy Mountains, NSW

Wanting to go to the snow or just trying to catch a few fish? Jindabyne is the place for you. Perhaps just a relaxing break when you can walk along the banks of Lake Jindabyne, reveling in the fresh mountain air, glorious scenery and laid back lifestyle is what you are after, then Jindabyne can fill your needs also.

Jindabyne is some 114 kms by road from the Australian Capital City of Canberra and is a year round holiday destination, with fantastic fishing, water sports, horse riding, bush walks and sightseeing in the warmer months, while in winter it is the staging point for skiing trips to the Snowy Mountains snowfields of Thredbo and Perisher Valley.

Curiosity Rocks, on the foreshore of Lake Jindabyne. The original town now lies beneath the waters of Lake Jindabyne, which was flooded in the early sixties as part of the Snowy Hydro Scheme. Nowadays Jindabyne is a hive of activity and a modern, bustling town, full of hope and prosperity.

There are fabulous accommodation options from camping and caravan parks to upmarket quality hotels, in fact you will find something to suit all budgets at Jindabyne and most are very well presented and serviced. Dining is a treat as Jindabyne is certainly a cosmopolitan town where choices range from Chinese, Italian, Lebanese to traditional Aussie tucker of fresh pies and fish and chips.

Beautiful trout in Thredbo RiverThere are affordable package tours from both Sydney and Canberra during the snow season which provides transport, accommodation at Snowy Valley Hotel, daily transfers to the ski slopes and some meals, or you can travel to Jindabyne yourself and arrange your own accommodation.

You do have to pay a fee to enter the Snowy Mountains National Park, which is currently set at $27.00 per car per day for 2007. This is my favorite photograph of the Perisher Valley region and depicts the beauty of the winter season so well. Thanks to Hypergurl for sharing.

Suggested Jindabyne Accommodation

Lake Jindabyne Hotel
Right on the shores of Lake Jindabyne and opposite a busy shopping centre, Lake Jindabyne Hotel Motel is a fabulous spot for all holidays. In the winter ski season, room rates are quite affordable and include breakfast. At night the meals at the hotel are very affordable with specials on Tuesdays and Thursdays. One of our favorite accommodation options and staff are great.

An upmarket accommodation option on the shores of Lake Jindabyne. Quality Resort Horizons may be a little more expensive than some of the other accommodation houses yet is somewhere you can spoil yourself with a little luxury. Rooms are spacious and equipped with all the luxuries one would expect, plus have washing machines and dryers, which is a bonus to clean those ski or fishing clothes. Packages include meals which are superb. My absolute favorite accommodation at Jindabyne.
