Located right on the Cairns Marlin Marina, Shangri-La Hotel is one of the finest accommodation houses and can truly brag about having the best location.
With great views of the Cairns waterfront, lagoon and Trinity Bay, guest are only a few hundred meters from Cairns City shopping, the Cairns Casino and are right on the jetty to take unbelievable cruises to Green Island or the Great Barrier Reef.

Shangri-La Hotel Cairns
Rooms are nice and comfortable with plenty of space. As with most superior hotels, everything you need is provided. Bathrooms were spacious with separate shower and bath, plus handy accessories including shampoo and toothbrushes.
We booked a superior bay view room, which was excellent and gave us views across Trinity Bay and the Esplanade, but next visit would probably settle for the regular room as the gardens are so beautiful. We did have noise drifting up from the restaurant while sitting on our balcony, but once you closed the doors the noise was not apparent. It was good to have a nice quiet room after a hectic days sightseeing in this tropical wonderland.
There are some amazing restaurants on the Marina with the hotel's own restaurant North Food & Wine superb. Great breakfasts and delicious evening meals finished off with the best terramisu desert I have ever tasted took care of all my dining needs. We did dine in a couple of other restaurants alone the pier, yet The North remained our favorite. I would certainly recommend the Shangri-La Cairns to one and all. Our stay covered a week and everything was perfect from beginning to end. We self drove into Cairns, used valet parking and never needed our car while there. Everything was either in walking distance from the hotel or we could be picked up at the lobby.

They say that position is everything in real estate and the biggest advantage that the Shangri-La Hotel has over other Cairns accommodation is the location. Situated right on the Marlin Marina, everything is right at the doorstep. 
While you are only meters from the Cairns Lagoon, you really don't need to visit there as the hotel pool is large and set in a real resort style surrounding. 
The tour desk is the spot for booking cruises and entry to attractions around the city. All the tours will pick you up at the hotel lobby and the staff at the tour desk work long hours to make sure you are totally looked after. Cairns has some amazing attractions so you probably won't see them all in one visit.
